Set up Assisted Mail Submission (AMS) in Exchange Online

To submit sent Zivver messages to the Zivver SMTP Server, you must filter these messages so they can be delivered securely to the recipient. Otherwise, the server will deliver them insecurely.

Follow these steps to create a rule in Microsoft Exchange Online:

  1. Go to the Exchange Admin Center.

  2. Click Mail flow in the menu on the left.

  3. Click Rules.

  4. Click add Add a rule.

  5. Click Create a new rule.

  6. Enter a name.

For example: Zivver Assisted Mail Submission.

  7. Under *Apply this rule if..., select The message headers….

  8. Under Select one, select matches these text patterns.

  9. Click Enter text.

  10. Enter zivver-relay.

  11. Click .

  12. Click Enter words.

  13. Enter ..*. (that is: 2 dots, 1 asterisk/wildcard, 1 dot).

  14. Click .

  15. Click .

  16. Under Do the following *, select Redirect the message to.

  17. Under Select one, select the following connector.

  18. Select the connector that you created in the previous section.

  19. Click .

  20. Click .

  21. Enable the option Stop processing more rules.

  22. Enable the option Defer the message if rule processing doesn’t complete.

  23. Click .

  24. Click .

  25. Click .

The rule is created but not yet enabled.

Make sure that the priority of all existing rules is correct.

If other rules must process a sent Zivver message first, ensure that the rule created for PAMS has a lower priority. Also confirm that these other rules do not have the Stop processing more rules setting enabled.

After the rule is enabled, every outbound message that has the mail header zivver-relay is submitted to the Zivver SMTP Server. There will be no messages with this mail header until you enable the PAMS feature in the Zivver Office Plugin or the OWA-AMS feature in the Zivver OWA add-in.
